Conventional flowmeters, which are firmly screwed via flanges, can only be installed or removed in a depressurized state. Especially with large pipe diameters, these devices are very heavy and expensive. The installation and removal is time-consuming. When deinstalled, they require a precisely fitting replacement piece to be able to close the line again. Recalibration is very complicated and difficult.

The VA 550 only requires a ball valve via which it can be hot tapped under pressure. The system does not have to be shut down. Due to the engraved depth scale, the VA 550 can be installed without any problems and with an exact fit.

For hazardous areas as well as natural gas applications, the VA 550 is optionally available with an ATEX or DVGW approval.

The VA 550 is available for lines from DN 20 to DN 2000. It can be ordered with different shaft lengths due to its modular design, making a single sensor compatible for a wide range of line diameters.

Due to its robust die-cast aluminum housing and a protection class of IP 67, the VA 550 is ideal for use in harsh industrial conditions. The VA 550 flow sensor is ideally suited for outdoor use, its sealed housing protects it against a wide range of weather conditions.

The robust stainless steel sensor tip is ideal for harsh industrial use. It is protected against mechanical damage during installation or removal. The sheathing around the thermal sensor element provides protection against dirt particles, rust or other mechanical abrasion of the compressed air lines. All wetted components are made of stainless steel, making the VA 550 an option for applications that have high surface finish requirements as well as cleanliness.

With a pressure tightness of up to 100 bar, the VA 550 is perfect for use at high pressure applications.

In most cases, the compressed air is not free of oil, condensate, dirt and particles. Over time, this leads to contamination of the sensor tips. As a result, measurement errors can occur to a certain extent, but this can also lead to total failure. Consumption meters currently on the market cannot usually be cleaned and are replaced when they become dirty.

The VA 550 can be cleaned on site quickly and without much effort by shaking it in water or a non-aggressive cleaning agent / alcohol.

With the pressure-tight drilling jig and aspot drilling collar, a measuring point can be set up quickly and safely under pressure. This allows consumption measurement to be carried out at any point in the compressed air network.

Unlike many conventional insertion sensors, which are fixed to the process with a safety rope or chain, the design of VA 550 prevents uncontrolled ejection during installation and removal.

By means of an alignment tool, the VA 550 consumption sensor can be placed quickly and easily at the correct angle to the flow. This is important to guarantee the measuring accuracy. The alignment tool is supplied as standard with every VA 550.

If the installation situation does not allow the display of the VA 550 to be seen, it can be mechanically rotated by 345° on site. Furthermore, the display can be digitally rotated via the menu keys, e.g. if the sensor is installed upside down.

This means that the measured values can be viewed in any installation position.

All necessary settings during initial installation can be set on site via the keypad. These include the selection of the unit, resetting the main counter, zero point adjustment or low flow cut off, reference conditions, etc.
