High pressure systems can have a compression rate of 20 to 200 bar. For example, high pressure compressors are used in the filling processes of diving and respiratory protection equipment, basically wherever highly compressed, clean breathing air is required. Increasing pressures lead to higher pressure dew point values in the pressurised system. This also increases the probability of condensation in the system.
Monitoring the pressure dew point is essential, especially when filling breathing air cylinders. The compressed breathing air is cooled down rapidly during decompression when the air is being used from the bottle/ cylinder. This can easily form moisture or ice and block the valve opening.
The dew point sensor and it’s measuring chamber must be able to withstand these pressures of up to 200 bar and more. The high-pressure measuring chamber and the dew point sensor from CS Instruments have been specially developed for this purpose and can be used in applications with pressures of up to 350 bar.
