With a thermal mass flow sensor, you can not only monitor your total consumption to optimize your demand profile, but also detect hidden savings potentials that indicates leakage during non-production.

In the diagram shown, we see a compressed air consumption measurement in the main line; clearly visible are the peaks (nos. 1 to 4) in the profile, which indicate the main compressed air consumption times. Since the performance limits of compressed air generation are often reached during peak demand periods, it is particularly worthwhile to take a closer look here. A better temporal distribution of the consumption of the various consumers could help to smooth the consumption profile.

By detecting and eliminating leaks, compressed air consumption can also be optimized. In the above example, there was no production until 10 o'clock, yet a volume flow of approx. 140 Nm³/h can be clearly seen (marked orange); this volume flow can also be referred to as the leakage rate, since the air is consumed here by leakages and not by connected consumers. During the measurement period, leakages were detected and closed. The connected compressed air consumers remained unaffected. In this way, it was not only possible to reduce the offset volume flow during non-production periods, but also to lower the general average consumption and reduce consumption peaks. As can be seen in the diagram, it was also possible to reduce the general compressed air consumption while production utilization remained unchanged.
